The home sits right on the banks of the river.
The modern glass-fitted mansion sits on 10 acres of land along with another 4,500-square-foot guest house. It’s surrounded by 198 acres of conservation land to protect the home’s sightline.
Current owners Jacob and Monica Frydman bought the rocky outcrop close to the enclave of Hyde Park, New York, back in 2005 for $1.5 million. It had three interconnected buildings surrounded by around five acres of woodland which the couple quickly expanded to 10. It was then demolished into the couple’s dream home by Frydco Capital Group.
The stunning home was designed by renowned New Orleans modernist architect Lee Ledbetter, who came up with a unique steel-framed structure with rolling, wave-like roofs, mile-high windows, and endless terraces. Since the couple wanted it to be unique, Lee came up with the idea of wrapping the 40,000 sq-ft mansion using fossilized French limestone, while 5000 sq-ft of decks and terraces are covered in rich travertine. The desire for stones is seen in the interior as well. Every floor and wall is clad in exotic marbles, stone, and travertines. According to Robb Report, it took 5 years to complete construction and even a skilled team from Europe was hired to work full-time for 18 months.
Speaking about the highlights of this stunning mansion, it features floor-to-ceiling walls of glass stretching 18- to 28-feet-high, a hand-carved free-standing oval tub in the master bath using a block of golden travertine, breathtaking views of the Hudson River, and the built-in Italy staircase that was imported along with a team of artisans to assemble it. The main house has three ensuite bedrooms, and the guesthouse is equipped with two more.
Outdoor features include an eight-car garage with additional space for another eight on lifts. There is also an indoor carwash to keep the precious rides all shiny. There is also a large outdoor pool connected to a sunken fire pit and conversation area. A hot tub is fitted for the ones who like to enjoy the views of the river while soaking in water. What about swimming during winter? For that, there is an enclosed indoor pool. Since the property is located 90 miles from New York City, there’s a helipad and seaplane dock by the door.
This stunning floating mansion is listed for $45,000,000.
